The Finance Department performs all fiscal and budgetary responsibilities for the Town of Ramapo for revenue and expenditure recognition, collection of receivables, pilot tax programs and the processing of payments of all lawful claims. Additionally, the office maintains records of the Town's capital projects and is responsible for adherence to the servicing schedule for the Town’s bonded indebtedness.
Pursuant to Local Law No. 1, 1968, certain of the financial functions of the Town are the responsibility of the Director of Finance, who is appointed by the Supervisor. The Director of Finance is also designated as the Town Comptroller.
The duties of the Director of Finance include:

General supervision of the Department of Finance

Accounting and bookkeeping functions

Review and analysis of the operations, financial condition and future financial needs of the Town

Assistance in the preparation of Town budgets.

Maintenance of Town capital project records

Adherence to the servicing schedule for the Town’s bonded indebtedness
