SMALL CLAIMS

 

Small Claims matters are lawsuits where the Plaintiff is seeking money damages in an amount not to exceed $3,000.00. Information and guidance on the filing of Small Claims matters can be found at: https://nycourts.gov/courthelp//pdfs/SmallClaimsHandbook.pdf

 

If you would like to file a Small Claims matter in the Ramapo Justice Court you must complete the SMALL CLAIMS INFORMATION FORM. This form can be filed at the Court window between 9am and 4pm on any non-holiday business day. You may download and complete the form prior to coming to the Court window to save time. Filing fees are due at the time of filing.

 

Small Claims Filing Fees:

$10 for claims up to $1,000.

$15 for claims between $1,001 and $3,000.

 

Note: The Defendant must reside or work within the Town of Ramapo. If you are unsure if this is the proper Court to file with, please contact the Court with the Defendant’s address to confirm.
