Solid Waste Association of North America June 2009 Convention
I was the featured keynote speaker at the Solid Waste Association of North America's (SWANA) 14th Annual Landfill Symposium and Planning & Management Conference held in Savannah, GA, on June 1-3, 2009. The conference was attended by over 200 executive-level solid waste directors and managers from across North America.
As Chairman of the RC Solid Waste Management Authority for ten years, I regarded my invitation to be the keynote speaker as national recognition that our Authority is a model, a cutting-edge municipal solid waste organization, and a leader in green-era sustainable waste management.
What an honor when my presentation, An Integrated Solid Waste Management Success Story, was considered by the conference organizers, "the most informative and useful presentation in the Conference's history."
The attendees were also interested in hearing about our efforts to assist the Haitian Solid Waste Management Authority as it seeks to develop a comprehensive system for the Port-au-Prince region.
Environmentally sound waste management practices are at the heart of sustainability and healthy communities. I think of my involvement in waste management as an opportunity to contribute to the health and beauty of our ecosystems
