Israeli Twinning Committee News

Fourth Biennial Essay Contest

In 1998, the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo established a twinning program between the Town of Ramapo and Beit Shemesh, Israel. The Town of Ramapo Israeli Twinning Committee, consisting of citizens who are interested in promoting an educational, cultural and harmonious relationship between the residents of the Town of Ramapo and those of Beit Shemesh, is sponsoring it's Fourth Biennial Essay Contest for high school sophomores and juniors. The winners of the Essay Contest will go to Israel in August 2004 and stay with host families. The round-trip airfare and other travel expenses to historical and cultural places for the Ramapo youth will be fully paid for by the Israeli Twinning Committee. The following year, high school students from Beit Shemesh will visit Ramapo and stay with host families. The Ramapo students visitng Israel will be fully chaperoned by a designated adult at all times and dangerous places will be avoided.

The committee is hopeful that your high school will participate in the essay contest. The contest Guidelines are as follows:
