Suffern , N.Y. – Town of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence recently attended a commemorative ceremony at Mott and Grand Streets in “Little Italy”, at the spot where the Order of the Sons of Italy in America was founded ninety-nine years ago… Supervisor St. Lawrence accompanied members of the Vincent Linguanti Lodge to this gala event. The Order Sons of Italy in America was established on June 22, 1905 , by Vincenzo Sellaro, and five other Italian immigrants who came to the United States during the great Italian migration (1886-1923). Their aim was to create a support mechanism for all Italian immigrants that would assist them in becoming US Citizens, and offer assistance with assimilation in America .

Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence met with the National President of the Sons of Italy, Joseph Sciame, conveying his congratulations on behalf of the Town Board and all the residents of the Town of Ramapo .

“The Order Sons of Italy in America is the leading Advocacy Organization for our nation's 26 million people of Italian heritage, I am privileged to visit the birthplace of one of America's finest cultural and philanthropic organizations” stated Supervisor St. Lawrence.
