A Message from Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence

Dear Resident:

As Ramapo continues to grow it has become imperative to address the changing needs of our community. We must continue to develop and maintain our parks and recreation facilities.  Over the past two years we have worked hard at protecting open space, our water supply and creating areas for children and families to be able to participate in various recreation programs close to home.

In 2005 we were able to open our first season at the Ramapo Tennis & Swim Facility at Rustic and Camp Scuffy and the Equestrian Center where over 1,000 people came to enjoy the new facilities.  All three local high schools played football games on the new turf field in the Torne Valley which we look forward to continuing this fall with football, soccer, lacrosse and field hockey.  We also took ownership of the 1961 vintage movie theater in Spring Valley, the Sloat House in Sloatsburg, and the Mobray Clark property in Wesley Hills.  These additions to our parks and open space programs have afforded us many new opportunities for our residents to enjoy the wonders of nature and excitement of recreation.

We have a wide array of options for you to choose from so that you can partake in all of the exciting recreation activities and programs offered by the town as well as enjoy walking through some wonderful nature areas.

Community success is driven by community support, which requires each resident to share their experiences with town programs to others in the effort to make the whole community aware of the opportunities afforded to them as residents in of the Town of Ramapo.   Please be sure to review all the events planned throughout the year so you, your family and friends can take part in as many events as possible.

Become one of the thousands of children, families, and seniors that benefit throughout the year in the variety of programs that we offer through the Parks and Recreation Department.  If there are any programs that you would like more information about, please contact the Clark Recreation Center at 357-6100.
