CAMP CENTRAL

Registration

Applications for Camp Scuffy will be accepted beginning Monday, February 9th and taken until camp has reached capacity. All other camps may register from Monday, April 13th through Friday, June 19th. Space is limited for each camp and will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Camp may close prior to June 19th if capacity is reached. Forms MUST be completely filled out in order for them to be accepted, so please call with any questions. Immunization dates MUST be written on the form to be accepted, attachments will be viewed as incomplete forms.

Camp Dates-2009

All full-day camps will run from Monday, June 29th through Friday, August 7th .

Refunds

No full refunds will be given if cancelled less than two weeks prior to opening date without a medical note. All requests for refunds must be submitted in writing to the Recreation Director. If approved they will be subject to a minimum of $50.00 processing fee, trip fees are paid in advance and will not be refundable.

CAMP SCUFFY

The camp is run at the 25-acre wooded outdoor facility complete with a pond, 3 multi-purpose buildings, a swimming pool, mini-golf, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer field, ball fields,

a low ropes course, archery, boating and much more. Your camper will experience lots of time outdoors, with plenty of fresh air and stimulating activity as well as quiet times for learning and growing. Each week will be filled with new wonderful activities for campers to choose from, making each day fun and exciting.

Eligibility: Entering 1st through 8th grade

Hours: 8:30am- 3:30pm

Location: Camp Scuffy - Enter at Christmas Hill Road

Fee: $1500.00 (includes 3 trips)

* Supplemental option 3:30-5:30 $175.00

CIT Program

The Counselor-in-Training program is available to students entering the 9th and 10th grade that have an interest in working with children. They will go through a well rounded program with the CIT Director working through problem solving, community service projects, activity development and delivery before shadowing counselors and working with campers. CIT 1's will have a mix of trips in conjuntion with Teen Trek, pool days, and during the last week they will have site visits to practice their skills with campers at Town mini-camps. CIT 2's will also have a mix of trips and pool days before spending their last two weeks on site visits and group shadowing at Town Mini-Camps. Successful completion of this program will ensure a job at a Town Mini Camp for 2009. Limited space, children will be interviewed - call 357-6100 for an appointment beginning April 9th.

Eligibility: Entering 9th (CIT 1) or 10th Grade (CIT 2)

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Location: Joseph T. St. Lawrence Community, Health & Sports Center

Fee: CIT 1 -$675 and CIT 2- $575

CREATE AND EXPLORE

This well know trip and on-site camp program continues to be a summer favorite. Campers will experience a variety of sports and games, crafts, swimming and trips. Camp spirit, carnival day, on-site entertainment and special events add to the excitement of this camp.

Eligibility: Entering grades 1 through 8

Location: Ramapo Freshman Center

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm w/ extended care option

Fee: $675 (add $150 for extended care)

TEEN TREK

When traditional camps no longer meet the needs of your teen, TEEN TREK is the answer. Teens will enjoy this program with its fun and exciting trips, swimming, and great staff and programming. Trips include: Six Flags- NJ, Dorney Park, Mountain Creek, and much more. Campers will enjoy 10 trips, 2 days at the pool each week and many exciting on site activities.

Eligibility: Entering grades 6 through 10

Location: Suffern Middle School

Hours: 9:00am-3:00pm, some trips may depart and/or arrive at times outside the regular day.

Fee: $750 Monday - Thursday $875 Monday-Friday

Tennis Camps



TENNIS CAMP Mondays through Fridays rain or shine!

Join Youth Coordinator- Bobbie Kim and her experienced staff for another exciting week of tennis camp, providing high quality instruction designed to develop and improve players tennis skills. Participants will enjoy a good balance of work and fun within the positive and supportive atmosphere. Choose from half –day or full-day option with each camp providing the player with the skills to improve their technique and sharpen their skills as they learn and further develop their game play. **Full day option includes daily swimming.

Session 1: August 10-14 Eligibility- Ages 7-16


Location- Camp Scuffy Full-Day: 9:00am-3:00pm $225

Morning Only: 9:00am-12:00pm $150


Mad Science Camp

Join the amazing staff of Mad Science as they take you through an exciting week of new program topics and activities. Through hands on projects children may explore: the technology used to design and build robots (Robotics and Advanced Robotics), explore the science behind forensics (Secret Agent Lab), or explore the natural world and the adaptations that allow birds and beasts to thrive (Nature).

Session 1: August 11-15

Session 2: August 18-22 


* All sessions will be located at Camp Scuffy


Fees: Per Program Topic: $175.00


Girls Basketball Camp

This camp will provide an opportunity for aspiring girls basketball players to improve their current skill level. Skill Development through instructional stations such as ball handling, shooting, rebounding, offense and defense are some of the fundamentals that will be part of the daily program. This week long program will include teambuilding, game play, fun contests, and more. Director- Bill Nolan, upcoming girls varsity coach at Suffern High School

Mini Camps

We are happy to announce our 39th season of Mini Camps in The Town of Ramapo. Our programs are staffed by qualified and enthusiastic staff that work together to deliver high-quality, fun and safe programs. All camps include arts & crafts, sports & games, music & drama as daily activities. Each week the camps will follow a new fun theme that will coordinate with activities, program calendars will be available before the start of camp. Camp programs will be enhanced by some fun and exciting on-site entertainment to include a magic & levitation show, singing with Lou Delbianco, and Mr. Twister Balloon Fun.

Special Partnership-The Town of Ramapo is proud to operate joint recreation academic camps with both the Ramapo Central and East Ramapo Central School Districts. These programs are open to elementary school age children referred by their school, and registration is through the school district only. For more information, please contact your school district office.

MINI-CAMPS

Where: Cherry Lane, Montebello and Sloatsburg

*(families can choose most convenient site).

When: Monday, June 29th through Friday, August 7th

Hours: 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Fee: $225.00 per child

All mini-camps are open to Ramapo youngsters ages 4 (by December 31st-Must be toilet trained) through grade 5.
