TOWN OF RAMAPO TOWN BOARD

SEQR POSITIVE DECLARATION, APPROVAL OF DRAFT SCOPING OUTLINE, AND SCHEDULING PUBLIC SCOPING SESSION CONCERNING COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AMENDMENTS AND TOWN CODE AMENDMENTS

 

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo, on July 11, 2019, adopted a resolution of SEQR Positive Declaration for the Action described below, determining that the action may have potentially significant adverse environmental impacts, and directing that a Draft Generic Environmental Impact Statement (DGEIS) be prepared.

             PLEASE TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo, on July 11, 2019, adopted a resolution approving a draft Scoping Outline for preparation of the DGEIS and scheduling a public scoping session which will be held on August 19, 2019, at 7:00 PM, at the Town Hall, 237 State Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901.

SEQR Status:           Type I

           

Description of Action:                        Adoption of Comprehensive Plan Amendment for the Northeast Ramapo Development Plan; Comprehensive Plan Update of Town-wide Existing Conditions; and Town Code Amendments for Northeast Ramapo. The purpose of the Action is to present, consider and adopt alternatives for future land use, land development, community services, capital investment, and management of overall growth and development in Northeast Ramapo. Northeast Ramapo is an unincorporated portion of the Town of Ramapo, consisting of a 3.4+/- square mile area located east of the Villages of Pomona and New Hempstead, north of the Villages of New Hempstead and New Square, south of the Town of Haverstraw, and west of the Town of Clarkstown.

 Scoping Session:        At the scoping session to be held on August 19, 2019, at 7:00 PM, at the Town Hall, the Town Board will hear and consider all oral and written comments on the draft Scoping Outline and on potentially significant adverse environmental impacts of the Action which should be evaluated in the DGEIS. The Town Board will consider these comments in its preparation of a final Scoping Outline. The final Scoping Outline will include the potentially significant adverse environmental impacts of the Action which will be addressed and evaluated in the DGEIS, the extent and quality of information needed to adequately address each potential impact, an initial identification of mitigation measures, and reasonable alternatives to be considered in the DGEIS.

                                     Written comments on the draft Scoping Outline may be submitted to or mailed to the Town of Ramapo Town Clerk, at the Town Hall, 237 State Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901, Attention: DGEIS Draft Scoping Outline, or may be submitted by email to planning@ramapo-ny.gov, Subject: DGEIS Draft Scoping Outline, on or before August 19, 2019.
