Our signature event, Ramapo’s Celebration of Liberty and Pride will take place on Sunday, June 29th at Rockland Community College.  This year’s extravaganza, which attracts over 20,000 people annually, will feature The Legendary Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes in Concert, and a fireworks display by the renowned Zambelli International Fireworks Company.

Southside Johnny was the second act to gain national prominence and be considered part of the Jersey Shore Sound, following Bruce Springsteen.  Southside’s first three albums, I Don’t Want To Go Home, This Time It’s For Real and Hearts of Stone, featured songs written by Steve Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen.  Rolling Stone Magazine named the album, Hearts of Stone, one of the top 100 albums of all time.  Southside founded his own label in 2001, and he continues to tour worldwide.  His annual appearances at Bruce Springsteen’s Asbury Park holiday shows draw as much crowd excitement as the “Boss” himself.

Zambelli Fireworks International is regarded as the “First Family of Fireworks”.  Zambelli Fireworks lit up the night for this year’s Times Square Celebration.  For four generations and over a century of showmanship, Zambelli has been leading the way in fireworks innovation.  I am looking forward to this year’s spectacular display by Zambelli in Ramapo.   As is our tradition, there is free admission and free parking to this event and the gates open at 5:30 PM.  The fireworks rain date is Monday, June 30th at 8:30 PM and in the event of inclement weather, the Concert will take place indoors at R.C.C. starting at 8:00 PM.  For further information call 357-6100.

This Weekend’s Major Events:

The Sixth Annual “Rumble in Ramapo” Charity Professional Wrestling Show will take place on Saturday, April 12th, at Suffern High School, starting at 7:30 PM.  All proceeds from this event will benefit The Challenger Little League and The Suffern Touchdown Club.
