OLDIES CONCERT SUNDAY, MARCH 30TH AT THE

HISTORIC LAFAYETTE THEATER

March 17, 2008

The Lafayette Theater in Suffern begins a new era of live entertainment on Sunday, March 30th at 2:00 PM, when Friend Entertainment presents Rockin' `n' Rockland Vol. #1, featuring The Duprees, Kenny Vance & The Planotones and Sammy Sax & The MD's in Concert. The historic Lafayette Theater which featured Vaudeville Shows in the 1920's and Concerts in the 1980's is a perfect venue for live entertainment.

The Rockin' `n' Rockland musical line-up is a truly impressive one:

  • Sammy Sax & The MD's is one of the most popular oldies Cover Bands in the Country featuring Leslie Anderson, lead singer of the legendary Doo-Wop Group Cleveland Still and the Dubs.

  • Kenny Vance was the founder of the popular group Jay & The Americans, who had the distinction of opening for The Beatles and The Rolling Stones at each of their first U.S. performances. Kenny remained with Jay & The Americans for over a decade touring extensively and recording fifteen albums, which included hits such as Cara Mia, She Cried and Only In America. Vance produced the first record for Steeley Dan, and went on to compose, supervise and produce a long list of scores for feature films and television. He has served as the musical director of Saturday Night Live and music supervisor for the films Animal House, Eddie & The Cruisers and American Hot Wax. In 1992, he re-formed The Planotones and in 2002, he was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

  • The Duprees group was formed in the early 1960's in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Band, over the years, has recorded 40 hit records, including classics such as You Belong To Me, My Own True Love, Have You Heard and Why Don't You Believe Me, just to name a few. The Duprees are known the world over for their romantic interpretations of some of the greatest love songs ever written. The Duprees are still entertaining audiences in major venues throughout the world appearing with some of the biggest names in show business.

I hope to see you at Rockin' `n' Rockland Vol.#1, Sunday, March 30th at 2:00 PM, at the historic Lafayette Theater, Route 59, Suffern, New York. For tickets and information call (718) 423-8394 or visit www.friendentertainment.com for three hours, forget your troubles and re-live the Happy Days of the 1960's on Sunday, March 30th.
