The Ramapo Justice Court has jurisdiction over cases pertaining to traffic violations, criminal misdemeanors & violations, preliminary hearings for felonies, and civil lawsuits filed for damages up to $3,000 in either justice court or small claims.

Justice Court civil summonses are served personally. The cost is $20.00 to file.

There is also a small claims court to handle claims up to $3,000. The cost is $10.00 for claims up to $1000.00; $15.00 for claims from 1001.00 to 3000.00. Small Claims summonses are mailed to defendant by certified mail.

The court is open Monday-Friday 9:00 am-5:00 pm, and will accept fines and monies up to 4:30pm.
