MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE RAMAPO TOWN BOARD HELD ON MAY 6, 2008

 

The Town Board of the Town of Ramapo convened a Special Meeting of the Ramapo Town Board on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 in the Office of the Supervisor at Ramapo Town Hall, 237 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901.

 

Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence called the meeting to order and Town Clerk, Christian G. Sampson called the roll.  The following board members were present and answered to their names:

 Councilman Stein led the assembled group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

 

APPOINT HEARING OFFICER: POLICE DISCIPLINARY PROCEEDING

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Yeger, seconded by Councilman Friedman and unanimously adopted by those board members present with Councilwoman Hunter being absent:

 

Resolution No. 2008 –317

     WHEREAS, the Town Board authorized Chief Peter Brower to bring Disciplinary Charges against Police Officer Brian Whitmore, and

     WHEREAS, the bringing of charges against said police officer requires a hearing be held before an independent Hearing Officer with respect to said charges,

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that it hereby appoints the Honorable William E. Sherwood, 19 Wiels Drive, Stony Point, New York 10980, at a cost of $225.00 per hour, as an independent Hearing Officer appointed pursuant to Section 11.2 of the Agreement between the Town of Ramapo Police Benevolent Association, effective January 1, 2008, and pursuant to the rules for the conduct of the disciplinary hearings set forth in Resolution 2002 - 604, and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the hearing of the charges brought by Chief Peter Brower as against said police officer is being held on May 16, 2008 at 1:00 PM.

 

 

APPOINT TEMPORARY MARRIAGE OFFICER: THOMAS F. BOLLATTO, JR.

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Friedman, seconded by Councilman Stein and unanimously adopted by those board members present with Councilwoman Hunter being absent:

 

Resolution No. 2008-318

     WHEREAS, Sloatsburg Village Clerk Thomas F. Bollatto, Jr. has requested that the Town of Ramapo designate him as a Marriage Officer for Saturday, May 10, 2008, and

     WHEREAS, Chapter 49 of the Laws of 1988 amended the New York State Domestic Relations Law to permit the governing body of a town, commencing January 1, 1989, to appoint one (1) or more marriage officers, who would have the authority to solemnize marriages within the territory of the town which makes the appointment

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that the Board does hereby appoint Sloatsburg Village Clerk, Thomas Bollatto, Jr. to serve as a marriage officer in the Town of Ramapo for Saturday, May 10, 2008.

 

 

NOTICE OF INTENT TO BE LEAD AGENCY – PATRICK FARMS

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Yeger, seconded by Councilman Friedman and unanimously adopted by those board members present with Councilwoman Hunter being absent:

 

Resolution No. 2008 –320

     WHEREAS, the Town Board is in receipt of a petition to amend the zoning map of the Town of Ramapo to rezone a portion of its property from M-80 to MR-8, and

     WHEREAS, pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 617, said action is classified as a Type I Action, and

     WHEREAS, THE Town Board wishes to declare itself as Lead Agency pursuant to 6 NYCRR Park 617 with respect to the above action,

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that it hereby wishes to declare itself as Lead Agency with respect to the above Type I Action, and

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Alan M. Simon, Director of Planning and Zoning Administration, is hereby authorized to circulate an Intent to Be Lead Agency to all involved agencies.

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Friedman, seconded by Councilman Stein and adopted by those board members present, with Councilwoman Hunter absent:

     RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that the Special Meeting of the Ramapo Town Board held this evening, May 6, 2008, be hereby adjourned at 7:27 pm.
