MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE RAMAPO TOWN BOARD HELD ON OCTOBER 26, 2007

 

The Town Board of the Town of Ramapo convened in Special Session on Friday, October 26, 2007 in the Office of the Supervisor at Ramapo Town Hall, 237 Route 59, Suffern, New York.

 

Supervisor Christopher P. St. Lawrence called the meeting to order and Town Clerk, Christian G. Sampson called the roll.  The following board members were present and answered to their names:

Councilman David J. Stein led the assembled group in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE: 2008 PRELIMINARY TOWN BUDGET

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Friedman, seconded by Councilman Stein and unanimously adopted by those board members present:

 

Resolution No. 2007 – 579

     WHEREAS, the Town Law requires a public hearing be held on the Town’s Preliminary Budget for the year 2008,

     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that a public hearing be held on November 8, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Ramapo Town Hall to solicit public comment on the preliminary budget for the Town of Ramapo for the year 2008.

 

 

SET PUBLIC HEARING DATE: PROPOSED LOCAL LAW GRANTING EXEMPTION FOR COLD WAR VETERANS

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Stein, seconded by Councilman Friedman and unanimously adopted by those board members present:

 

Resolution No. 2007-580

      RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that a Public Hearing be hereby held on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 8:00 PM at Ramapo Town Hall,  Suffern, New York for the purpose of soliciting public comment on a PROPOSED LOCAL LAW AUTHORIZING THE GRANTING OF REAL PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS FOR COLD WAR VETERANS.

 

 

AUTHORIZE PURCHASE OF ELM TREES FOR VARIOUS TOWN PARKS

The following resolution was moved by Councilman Stein, seconded by Councilman Friedman and unanimously adopted by those board members present:

 

Resolution No. 2007 –581

     WHEREAS, the Town of Ramapo wishes to purchase American elm trees for various Town parks, and

          WHEREAS, Elm Renaissance Tree Farm, 586 Elm Street, S. Dartmouth,  Massachusetts 02748, can provide American elm trees, such trees being resistant to Dutch elm disease at various sizes at the following costs:

 

                        2.5” - $250.00

                        3.0” - $300.00

                        3.5” - $350.00

                        4.0” - $400.00 

   NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that it hereby agrees to purchase various sized American elm trees from Elm Renaissance Tree Farm at a cost not to exceed $4,500,

     BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Ilan Schoenberger, the Director of Finance, is hereby authorized to amend the 2007 Town budget as follows:

 

            Transfer $4,500   from Account 7197H18.39909 to

            Account 7197H14.34460 to fund the above purchase

     RESOLVED by the Town Board of the Town of Ramapo that the Special Meeting of the Ramapo Town Board held this morning, October 26, 2007, be hereby adjourned at 9:15 AM.
